My first Metallica show... I lived in Colombia at that time, and we didn't really get many concerts. When Metallica was announced it was something incredible, one of the hugest metal events ever organized there.
Today things are different, there are Metal concerts every month in Bogotá and elsewhere in the country, but back in the 90's it was rare to see big international bands...
I didn't bring my camera so all the visuals I have for you are those youtube videos, and a scan of the entrance ticket.
By the way, these videos are proshot, so if you know where can I find that DVD, please contact me!
I remember this concert like being a big party, and something that metalheads from all over the country were expecting for years. Something quite comparable to Iron Maiden's first visit to Colombia.
80 000 people were there. It was pure madness and euphoria.
I didn't know what to expect: Metallica did some of the heavier albums in history but suddenly did the more soft Load and Reload. Finally the setlist included songs from all their periods, like Master Of Puppets, The Four Horsemen, Bleeding Me and Fight Fire With Fire.
They used to tune their instruments lower at that time and to be honest I really prefer the normal E-tune, or no less than a half tone lower.
